An annual hockey event to raise money for children's charities within the Waterloo Region.
SKATE 48 has a long standing tradition of fun hockey, a boisterous post-game meal, prizes, spirited conversation and bragging rights for the remainder of the year. Above all, over $2.5 million has been raised for children's charities since its inception in 1990.
Challenge a rival team to a one game hockey duel and you'll enjoy both the competition on the ice, as well as the satisfaction of knowing your helping make a difference in people's lives. The winners dine on fine food, while the losers will have to be contented eating hot dogs. Either way you’ll have a blast and a good laugh at the licensed post game party.
Last year 58 teams and 700 players joined us for a day of family fun and hockey at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. Get in on the action! Register now by clicking the "Register a Team or Player" button on this page.
There are great prizes for players that reach fundraising levels of $250, $500 and $1000, plus we will later host a “Top 50 Party” for the top fundraisers. You don't want to miss this great event featuring special guest and hockey great, Marcel Dionne, who will be signing autographs after his talk. In 2017 Dionne was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history. Dionne was the third of seven men to reach the 700-goal plateau, and currently ranks fifth among all-time goal scorers, with 731. He is ranked sixth in points, with 1771. He is tenth in career assists with 1,040.
