ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

It’s Game On!!!

That’s right, we’ve secured ice times on February 24th, 2024 for our annual SKATE48 Hockey Showdown.  Are you ready to face your rival team to a hockey duel that will give you bragging rights for the year? You’ll be enjoying our deluxe dinner while your losing opponent has hotdogs instead! It’s all part of the fun of the SKATE 48 hockey game challenge.

The bragging rights begin when you win your on-ice game, but also show them your community support by being the bigger fundraisers. It’s easy when you have all your players involved in fundraising . Each team should be able to exceed $1,500 in donations to help make this year’s event a resounding success.

SKATE48 allows the Rotary Club of Kitchener Grand River to continue our work to support a variety of children’s charities.  Our success depends on you!

ABOUT SKATE 48 FUNDRAISING

Since 1990, over $3.6 million has been raised! The one game challenge style tournament provides many entertaining and competitive hockey games, while raising funds for charities and other worthwhile causes in our community and throughout the world.  You can see what programs we’ve funded by visiting the “For the Kids” page of this website.

Participants are encouraged to raise funds throughout the community by collecting donations from family, friends and co-workers. Our on-line donation system makes it easy for you to raise funds.

Please download our Donation Form if you plan to collect donations in person, paid via cash or cheque…

There are great prizes for players that reach fundraising levels of $300, $500 and $1000, plus we will later host a “Top 25 Party” for the top fundraisers, once we get public health approval. You don’t want to miss this great event since it always includes a talk by a featured guest.  Past guest speakers have included NHL players Walt McKechnie and  Marcel Dionne, who then signed autographs after their talks.

What better way to make a difference in the lives of less-fortunate children!
